ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays have won the second game in this home interleague series against the Astros. The Rays scored all of their runs early with an RBI double by Carlos Pena, immediately followed by a two-run blast off the bat of Evan Longoria. The Rays would score once more in the second with a lead-off solo shot hit by Dioner Navarro. James Shields dominated the Astros pitching a complete game, five-hit shutout, while the Astros side was a totally different story. Felipe Paulino only went two and two-thirds, and had to be taken out of the game with elbow pains. Astros reliever Tim Byrdak would suffer the same fate later in the game.
