4/15 - Yankees End Rays Streak

The Rays have suffered their first loss after a four game winning streak. Yankees starting pitcher Mike Mussina dominated, pitching a complete game giving up one run on ten hits to the Rays. The Rays struck first with a run in the bottom of the first, but that was the only run they would get the entire game. Hideki Matsui accounted for two of the Yankees runs with two solo homers, one in the sixth, and another in the eighth, and Derek Jeter scored in the ninth on a double play ball hit by Alex Rodriguez. Rays starting pitcher Jason Hammel had a perfect game going into the sixth, but lost it on a double by Robinson Cano. Hammel ended up pitching six inning giving up one of the Yankees three runs on two hits and striking out four.
