4/18 - Rays Come Back Late to Beat Sox

The Rays beat the Chicago White Sox today, opening a three game series in Tampa Bay. The Sox struck first with a two-run homer by Jim Thome in the second, and a solo shot hit by A.J. Pierzynski in the third, but the Rays narrowed it down to a one run game with a two-run homer off the bat of Evan Longoria in the bottom of the fourth. The Sox then continued to pile it on including another homer by Pierzynski and a solo shot hit by Nick Swisher until it was a 7-2 ballgame, but the Rays weren't done. They scored three runs in the sixth narrowing it down to a two-run game, and four more in the bottom of the eigth taking a two-run lead. Rays starter Andy Sonnanstine pitched seven innings, giving up all seven of the Sox runs on nine hits and striking out three, and taking a no decision.
