The White Sox have won game three, and the series of this three game series in Tampa Bay. In a scoreless tie in the fourth inning, Juan Uribe hit a two-run homer giving the White Sox a two run lead, but the Rays came back and tied it in the fifth with an RBI double hit by B.J. Upton scoring Akinori Iwamura, followed by an RBI single hit by Carlos Pena scoring B.J. Upton, but that was all the Rays would score. The White Sox broke the tie in the fifth with back-to-back solo homers off the bats of Jim Thome and Paul Konerko taking a two run lead. A.J. Pierzynski capped it off with a solo homer in the ninth. Rays starter Edwin Jackson pitced seven innings giving up two of the Sox runs on four hits and striking out eight. This loss has now dropped the Rays into second place in the American League East division, half a game behind the Toronto Blue Jays.
