4/29 - Rays Win Baltimore Slugfest

Opening up a three-game series, the Rays and Orioles slammed homer after homer. The Rays struck first in the first with a solo shot off Carlos Pena, and they would continue to add on in the third with five runs, sending Orioles starting pitcher Daniel Cabrera to an early shower. The Rays scored twice more in the fifth, extending to an 8-0 lead. The Orioles finally scored in the bottom of the seventh with a home run off the bat of Great Johnson. The Rays scored twice more, again in the ninth, but it was canceled out by back-to-back homers in the bottom of the ninth hit by Great Johnson again, and Jay Payton. Rays starting pitcher Hideo Nomo pitched six and two-thirds innings giving up two runs on seven hits and striking out nine.
