4/24 - Rays Walk-Off In Extras, Take Series

The Rays have won the final game of this series against the Blue Jays in Tampa Bay. With no score in the fifth, Matt Stairs got the scoring started with a solo homer giving the Blue Jays a one run lead. The Blue Jays then extended their lead in the eighth with an RBI double off the bat off Aaron Hill scoring Marco Scutaro. Down by two runs in the bottom of the ninth, the Rays tied it up with a two-run blast hit by B.J. Upton. Going into extras, the Blue Jays scored instantly in the top of the tenth with a solo shot by Gregg Zaun, taking a one run lead. In the bottom of the ninth, with Blue Jays starter Jesse Litsch still in the game, Cliff Floyd led off with a single, followed by another single hit by Dioner Navarro, and then Rocco Baldelli came to the plate and hit a three-run homer over the left field wall for the walk-off. Rays starter James Shields pitched eight innings giving up two of the Blue Jays runs on eight hits and striking out seven. With the Red Sox 8-3 victory over the Angels, they stay atop the AL East division along with the Rays, and going head to head tomorrow night in Tampa Bay.
